Your Experiences

Our Peer Support Service is run by our trained Peer Supporters who have lived experience of the challenges faced by those we care for. If you have experienced any of the following, then you could help us by making a difference to families by providing Peer Support:

  • A difficult pregnancy
  • Care under Foetal Medicine
  • A traumatic birth
  • Time in NICU
  • Time in SCBU
  • Time in PICU
  • Time on the ward
  • Looking after your sick child at home
  • The death of a baby or child

Apply to Provide Support

Peer Supporting is very rewarding, but also very challenging work – we ask that your hospital experience was at least one year ago to enable you to have processed your own experiences. We realise for those of you who are still looking after your child that this is irrelevant, and you are still welcome to apply… we will discuss everyone’s personal situation with them during the application process.

Everyone who completes the form will be interviewed for the role of Peer Supporter. If we recruit you as one of our volunteers we will provide a full day training for you (which can be done remotely) and provide uniform and a mobile phone if required for your role. All Peer Supporters are required to complete a DBS check and adhere to our Safeguarding policy.
