Christmas Boxes for families on PICU

Every family spending Christmas on PICU this year was given a delicious home-baked hamper from Team Evie…

Evie’s gran Hazel and auntie Emma baked some delicious mince pies, shortbread biscuits and 16 individual Christmas cakes for families, in the hope that they will brighten a very difficult day for families! They also threw in a Christmas classic of a chocolate orange!

When a child is taken critically ill, or involved in an accident requiring Intensive Care it is incredibly stressful for all the family. Parents spend all their time worrying about their child and doing all they can to help, siblings lives are thrown up in the air as their brother or their sister is so poorly, grandparents, aunties and uncles pitch in to visit and help as much as they can – it is incredibly difficult. When this happens at Christmas, when a family should be at home enjoying their day together, it is even more difficult for everyone involved.

We hope that the gesture of some little Christmas treats can brighten the day for families on the ward and give them that little bit of Christmas that they deserve.
