Candle-lit Remembrance Walk

We will once again be holding our Candle-lit Remembrance Walk this year, to mark Evie’s 3rd Birthday.

Last year the event was very special with over 80 babies from around the world remembered in our reflection when we reached the viewpoint at the midway point of the walk (you can see the video of the walk below). Again we will be invited parents if they would like to have their baby remembered and included in the event – whether they can attend themselves or not… numbers for the event are strictly limited to 100 so it will be on a first come first served basis we are afraid…

7pm – The event begins with us all meeting in Siskins cafe  – which is opened especially for the event. This is a chance for everyone to meet up, have a cuppa and gather their balloons for the walk*.

(following times are approximate)

7.45pm We leave the cafe and head through the forest, our path lit up with green glow sticks, towards the viewpoint

8.15pm We will gather for our reflection – this is where we spend some time thinking about the babies we are remembering, with each ones name read out and their named lantern being lit up.

We will then head back down to Siskins for another coffee and cake to warm up – you can head back to the cafe in your own time. Some people like to spend a little while in the quiet, some like to leave soon after the reflection.

9.30pm The event will finish – but you are free to leave when you feel you would like to, it is an emotional event and some people may wish to leave rather than head back to the cafe – this is fine.

*NO BALLOONS WILL BE RELEASED DURING THE EVENT – ALL BALLOONS ARE FILLED WITH BALOONIUM, TIED TO A WEIGHT, AND THEN DISPOSED OF AT THE END OF THE EVENT.
